Color TermsIn General Color refers to the pigmentation of the coat. Example: Brown, Buff, Black, Red, Fawn, etc. Markings refers to the pattern of the coat color. Example: Tan Points, Flashy, Check, Merle, Parti, etc. . ____________________________________________ In Cockers Chocolate is also known as Brown Buff is also referred to as Golden, Blond, Tan, Red, etc. Merle is a pattern of coat color pigmentation with dark, irregular blotches on a lighter background Merle is not the same as Roan Black Merle is also known as Blue Merle Brown Merle is also known as Chocolate Merle Roan is an even mixture of white and colored hairs expressed only in the white areas of a Parti color dog Parti is two or more solid, well broken colors, one of which must be white . ________________________________________ In Boxers Classic is little to no white marking on the dog Flashy is white marking on the face, feet, chest, neck, and belly of the dog Check is a mostly white dog with colored markings Black is also referred to as Sealed Brindle Black/Tan is a color not commonly seen in Boxers. I Guarantee my Black/Tan Boxers are PURE BRED!!! Liver is also a color not commonly seen in Boxers. I Guarantee my Liver Boxers are PURE BRED!!! Liver is also referred to as Chocolate or sometimes as Red. The liver gene turns any black markings on the dog to the chocolate color including nose, skin and pad pigment. |
